Engaging gameplay
The mobile version of Hello Neighbor offers a commendable adaptation of the original game, retaining much of its core charm.

The game blends elements of suspense, puzzling, and a dash of horror to deliver a truly unconventional experience.
10/10
Hello Neighbor is a pretty good game and has one of the best mysterious atmospheres in my opinion.
Hello Neighbor is a stealth game where you try to sneak into your neighbor’s house and learn his dark secrets without getting caught. The game was developed by Dynamic Pixels and published by tinyBuild. It first came out in 2017, and later landed on iOS and Android in 2018.

Partnership timeline
tinyBuild partnered with Pingle to bring Hello Neighbor to Android and iOS without losing its suspenseful atmosphere. We adapted the game’s code for mobile store requirements, optimized content for smooth performance on devices, and designed touch controls from the ground up.
Hello Neighbor’s eerie, adaptive AI and heavily stylized environments were designed for PC and console hardware. tinyBuild wanted that same unpredictable experience on iOS and Android. Without any compromises.
Here’s what we had to nail down to make Hello Neighbor work on mobile.
Have a similar challenge?
We can help!
Hello Neighbor relies on dynamic shadows and dim lighting, but on mobile, these could easily turn into flat textures or cause lag. To maintain visual fidelity, we analyzed every frame and rebuilt key assets for mobile GPUs.
Analyzed CPU/GPU profiles to identify heavy assets that were most demanding visually.
Simplified complex shaders, like dynamic shadows and reflective surfaces, so they looked sharp even on mid-tier devices.
Cut unnecessary geometry in the neighbor’s house to improve rendering speed.
Sneaking, hiding, and running from the neighbor requires precision. On PC and consoles, that precision comes from keyboard or gamepads – inputs that don’t translate directly to touchscreens. That’s why we had to rebuild the controls from scratch.
Prototyped multiple schemes, from swipe gestures to tap-to-interact.
Ran focus-group tests to see which layouts held up during stealth and chase sequences.
Refined the final scheme for responsiveness, letting players open doors, hide, and run without mis-taps.
High-quality PC/console assets can easily cause lag or overheating on mobile devices if left unoptimized. That’s why we created a content optimization pipeline to keep gameplay fluid and responsive everywhere.
Developed a content optimization pipeline driven by CPU/GPU profiling.
Tested the pipeline on a representative slice of the game.
Applied successful optimizations across full game builds.
Tight indoor scenes and AI behaviors could get messy on mobile, so we made sure our optimizations didn’t kill the game’s fun.
Ran targeted playtests to identify areas where controls or visual clarity suffered.
Refined gameplay transitions, UI, and input behavior so doors, hiding spots, and objects responded as scripted.
From technically demanding titles to stylistically unique games, we've helped dozens of developers scale their games’ success on new platforms. In record times.
